fancy flowers!

happy monday!!  well i guess it is almost over but it is the thought that counts right!?!  sitting here watching shark week and wondering why since in a 2 weeks i will be at the beach!  it is like watching jaws on a rainy day at the beach, but with real live sharks biting lots of things!  and why are sharks so special anyway…why do they get a whole week devoted to them?  wonder if the whales and dolphins and seahorses are jealous?  how about a week honoring beavers or platypuses or manatees?  come on nat geo wild and discovery channel..get on that!  anyway, back to important matters…cards!!

hate stampin images as a background (like in my card) because you think you might add too many flowers or not enough or put them too close together?  i will let you in on a little tip…i started with a piece of 81/2 x 11 piece of cardstock and stamped all the big flowers.  then i cut out 4 pieces that will fit on my card.  then i go back in and fill in where needed with the little flower…yep, that easy to make 4 quick cards!

“base” camp (card style)!

ever need to make a card and just can not come up with any ideas?  or maybe you are in a rush and need a card asap..well folks, it does not get any simpler then this..and the possibilities are endless…change the paper, the ribbon, add some brads, rhinestones, pearls, buttons or anything you have lying around!  here is how i made the card “base”…

supplies (all stampin’ up! unless otherwise noted):

  • afterthoughts stamp set
  • basic black grosgrain ribbon
  • black staz-on ink pad
  • patterned paper (i used the vintage DSP from the su occasions mini)
  • whisper white cardstock
  • crumb cake cardstock

stamp greeting onto whisper white cs with black staz-on ink (i started using the staz-on in black because i think it gives a richer black color with a little sheen to it, kinda like it came from the printer).  cut out and attach to crumb cake cs and cut out (could use square punches if you have 2 sizes).  for the card, use whisper white as the base and distress the edges with your distress tool (or your fingernails!).  cut a piece of patterned paper and attach ribbon around and attach to card base.  attach matted greeting to card with a dimensial…and yeap…it is that easy.  now is the fun part where you can add whatever embellishments you want to make it your own!

hope you enjoyed and keep on stampin!
